The Fall Buzz

The Kenneth B. Clark Academy Campus (KCA) in Dobbs Ferry was abuzz with various activities on Thursday, October 4, 2012. One of the many highlights was the District’s volleyball team’s match against Tuckahoe. The Lady Crusaders swept both games to post their first victory of the season. The Lady Crusaders, under the tutelage of Head Coach Ms. Barbara Muscat, demonstrated a good deal of skill, determination and grit in front of a large, enthusiastic crowd.Image

The newly created Grounds and Maintenance program taught by Mr. Bill Foley is up and running at KCA. The program also includes an after school work study component that is coordinated by Ms. Dawn Buttinelli. The students enrolled in the work study component completed their tasks that included maintenance of classrooms and other parts of the KCA facility. After they completed the maintenance tasks they settled into the gym and supported the Lady Crusaders.

This program is key to preparing our students for the “world of work” in that many positions across employment sectors include the ability to drive.

The “Marching Cobras”, the District Drum Corp, directed by Mr. Terrell Stowers and assisted by Mr. Kevin Young, provided background “music” for the aforementioned activities. Various levels of training for members of the “Marching Cobras” were the focus of the afternoon. Members participated in “cardio” activities as well as both group and individual music lessons. Recently appointed English teacher, Mr. Alejandro Mendoza volunteered to provide small group lesson for several members.

This afternoon at KCA represented the deep commitment the Greenburgh North Castle Union Free School District has made across our four academies to our student body and our objective of ensuring they receive a well-rounded education to prepare them for the “Bridge to Adulthood”.
